Holding the Light
Wintering and Grieving Through Ritual
Winter invites us inward.
For many people, it also awakens grief, loneliness, and the parts of us that feel hardest to sit with.
Holding the Light is a 90 minute candlelit gathering to tend the inner flame when everything feels cold or heavy. Through simple ritual, Yule wisdom, and grief education, you will be invited to meet your inner winter gently and remember that you are not alone.
what this gathering is…
This is part teaching and part ceremony.
We will slow down together, learn about how winter affects grief and the nervous system, and move through simple rituals that help you feel held instead of hollow.
You do not need to be in an active loss to come. This space is for anyone who is grieving something or someone, feeling the weight of winter, or wanting to understand their own heart more closely.
Light doesn’t erase the dark
〰️
it holds it.
Light doesn’t erase the dark 〰️ it holds it.
What We Will Explore
• The Wintering Body
How winter can intensify grief, loneliness, and emotional fatigue, and why your body sometimes feels heavier in the darker months.
• The Yule Flame
Seasonal and ancestral wisdom about Yule, darkness, and the returning light, and how to work with this time in a sacred way.
• Candle Gazing Practice
A guided candle gazing ritual to reconnect with the light within you, calm the mind, and soften difficult emotions.
• Grief and Loneliness Literacy
Education around why grief and loneliness spike in winter, and how to meet these experiences with compassion instead of self blame.
• Simple Rituals for Winter
Practices you can repeat after class to tend your heart, create warmth in your space, and hold yourself through the season.
A series honoring the rhythms of nature and the cycles of our own grief
Grief Through the Seasons Series
This gathering is part of an ongoing series exploring how grief moves through us the same way the earth moves through its seasons.
Each season brings a different emotional landscape:
• Spring — Hope, beginnings, sprouts of healing
• Summer — Warmth, capacity, connection
• Autumn — Letting go, descent, nostalgia
• Winter — Stillness, darkness, loneliness, the ache of what’s been lost
Holding the Light is the winter chapter of this larger arc.
A place to honor the darkness honestly.
A space to acknowledge the quiet heaviness that winter brings.
A ritual reminder that even in the deepest night, there is a spark inside you that refuses to go out.
As the series unfolds, each gathering will explore a different seasonal doorway into grief, ritual, and emotional renewal — helping you understand your internal cycles as naturally and compassionately as the ones in nature.

About Your Guide
I am Morgan, a death doula, grief supporter, and soul midwife who walks with people through the thresholds of loss, change, and becoming. My work lives at the intersection of ritual, nervous system care, and ancestral remembrance.
I created Holding the Light as a soft place for you to bring the parts of your grief that feel too heavy to hold alone, and to remember that even in the darkest season, there is still a flame inside you that has not gone out.
